The Dream Center is a place where emancipated Foster Youth over 18 years of age, who have no families to support them, can find services. The Westchester Kiwanis Club recognized a need for additional support to help these young adults overcome hardships that were not of their making. Working with the management of the Dream Center, the Club determined that providing job skills and continuing education were important to their growth and independence. The Westchester Kiwanis Club has provided job skill training, gift cards for bus passes to job interviews, and funds to provide new clothing for school and work. In addition, the Club purchased a washer and dryer so the youth could wash their clothing, a high chair for children of the youth attending the center, and provided food and other supplies to prepare meals at the center.
